Okay, every dealer tells you they're different.......but we really are!
Early in his career, Coleman Hoyt was a mechanic, not a salesman! This is unusual in the car business and it has resulted in a very different culture for this company.
The prior owners all failed to make a profit here, and the dealership was in trouble throughout the 1980's.
In 1989, Coleman bought the company with the idea that an excellent, well-run garage was the way to save the organization......and probably more urgent than just "a showroom where you could get a great deal".
He had been a mechanic, a General Motors service manager, a Service Rep for Ford Motor Company and then had a management career at Ford where his primary responsibility was Lincoln Customer Satisfaction for all of New England.
First, Acton LM built an extraordinary team of the very best technicians "raided" from dealerships all over the area. Next they installed some very unique operating processes that were designed to satisfy the consumer first, rather than focus on adding money on the bottom line. It was gamble.
It worked! Coupled with a realistic, honest and open approach to selling and trading cars, Acton Lincoln Mercury exploded with success through the 90's.....but they never lost their very principled approach to doing what is right, rather than doing what is fast.
Looking for growth opportunities, in 1991 Acton Lincoln Mercury also began experimenting with the sales & service of Lincoln Limousine and Livery vehicles, a highly specialized and complex business. After a number of mistakes and painful lessons, Acton Lincoln Mercury's fleet department grew to be the # 1 volume provider of those cars in the world, and still is today.
Like an invisible subsidiary, ALM Fleet Sales seamlessly delivers thousands of new Lincolns every year to coach builders and transportation providers all over the United States. This work requires extremely close coordination with the manufacturer and much more precise operating controls than most dealers can provide.
Interestingly, in the mid 1990's Acton Lincoln Mercury's service department was appointed by Ford Motor Company to handle the resolution work for the manufacturer's lemon law buyback vehicles for all the New England states. Essentially, this means that Ford Motor Company sends all its most difficult repair problems to Acton LM.
Think about this......all the vehicles that the other dealers cannot repair correctly in 6 states, are sent to Acton Lincoln Mercury, by Ford, for the final remedy before being resold. This even includes the Ford franchise vehicles that Acton LM does not sell new. This is due to the extraordinarily high expertise & talent of Acton LM's technical people, the work environment that they have and the management team that supervises the organization.
Most dealers have very high turnover, and many are not just fun places to work....but Acton LM specializes in "High Tech Service and Low Pressure Sales", and its employees like it. When you visit Acton LM, you will see the same faces over and over, year after year.....and this is what they keep referring to as "The Acton Advantage"!
We hope you will stop by and see it for yourself!
It's real.
